Monika by Constantin Eich was developed during the Immersion Workshop Week 2026, held under the theme Jardin Bizarre. The brief asked participants to work with semi-finished materials or found objects from the garden  combining or transforming them with as few interventions as possible into something new and purposeful. The entire project, from first idea to finished object, had to be completed in four days.

The process began with a walk through allotment gardens, taking in the improvised constructions and informal solutions that gardeners build for themselves over time. One moment stood out: a garden hose draped over a branch of a tree, used as a makeshift outdoor shower. It was unpolished, but the idea was good. The goal became to take that observation and develop it into something considered.

The result is a portable outdoor shower built from ¾-inch galvanized steel pipe with threaded connections. The pipe was bent into shape, fitted with standard pipe connectors and a ball valve sourced from a hardware store, and finished with a self-cut thread. A garden hose is attached via a Gardena connector — which means the shower is compatible with any garden that already runs on the Gardena system, and can be shut off directly at the valve without returning to the tap.

What makes it work is also what makes it simple: the shower can be hung from any branch, rod, chain, or washing line, turning any outdoor space into a place to rinse off. No installation, no tools, no fixed location.
