Two Steps by Constantin Eich is a semester project that rethinks the conventional concept of a ladder. The starting point was the task of designing a ladder that deliberately breaks away from the familiar typology and explores new approaches in form, use, and construction. A key focus of the project was the manufacturing process of molded plywood. Through intensive material research and numerous experiments, a design emerged that is formed from a single bent piece of wood, combining structural integrity with a clear and reduced aesthetic.

Rather than creating a purely functional ladder that is only used occasionally, "Two Steps" follows an expanded approach to everyday use. The object is conceived as a multifunctional piece of furniture that integrates naturally into living spaces and can serve as a stool, side table, or surface in daily life. Only when needed, multiple elements can be combined to create a ladder. In this way, "Two Steps" merges material exploration, structural clarity, and a contemporary understanding of flexible, everyday use.
